About Rich Wells
What started off as a last-minute, “omg we need a retirement gift” has become a fun side-hustle
A Marine for 30 years, I’ve worked in many different types of workplaces, Army posts, Marine bases, and with a diverse group of people. For as far back as I can remember, I was “go to guy” because I could make anything. And when I say that I’ve made some of the most unique end-of-tour and retirement gifts, I’m not kidding…
- Need a wooden sword with a coin in the handle? Check.
- Want a wooden plaque that resembles Mt. Whitney as an end-of-tour gift for an assault climber? Got it.
- Got to have a metal and wood Viking shield with rune markings and fake blood for the chief of staff because he goes to ‘battle’ every day? YES SIR!
But hands down, the favorite items among the troops are the rustic wooden flags. Whether the order was for the “George Washington,” a one-of-a-kind flag that is sanded to give a 3D wavy effect, or the “Ben Franklin,” a lockable security & storage box to hide the tactical tools or other valuables, each one is handmade right here in my garage in Whispering Pines, NC.
